Help and support
Stuck on something? Most answers are below. If not, email support@kitchenclipper.com and a real person will write back, usually within a day.
Getting started
- Get your invite. Kitchen Clipper is in a closed beta. Request an invite and we'll email you when your spot opens.
- Add the clipper to Chrome. Your invite email has the link. Once it's installed, click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin Kitchen Clipper so it's always one click away.
- Sign in. Open a recipe, click the Kitchen Clipper icon to open the side panel, and press Save. The first time, it asks for your email and sends you a six-digit code. Type the code into the panel and you're in.
- Find your recipes. Everything you save is in your recipe box at app.kitchenclipper.com, on any computer or phone.
Clipping recipes
Which sites work?
Most recipe blogs and food sites, especially ones with a printable recipe card. The clipper also reads recipes written as plain blog posts with "Ingredients" and "Instructions" headings. When it reads a page that way, it marks the recipe so you can give it a quick look before saving.
It says "Couldn't find a recipe here." What now?
Highlight the recipe on the page (the title, the ingredients and the steps), then right-click the highlighted text and choose "Clip highlighted recipe." You can also press "Use highlighted text" in the panel. You can tidy anything up with Edit before you save.
How do I save a recipe from Instagram or Facebook?
Open the post in Chrome on your computer, highlight the recipe in the caption, right-click it and choose "Clip highlighted recipe." The creator's name and a link to the post are saved with it. TikTok recipes usually live inside the video, so those can't be clipped yet.
Chrome is asking for permission to read the site. Is that safe?
Yes. Chrome asks before any extension can read a website. Kitchen Clipper reads only the page you're on, and only while its panel is open or when you clip highlighted text. It never reads your other tabs or your browsing history. The privacy policy has the details.
What are the "Notes from" tips?
Many recipe posts hide useful advice in the story: how long it keeps, what to swap, what to make ahead. Kitchen Clipper pulls those tips out, writes them in plain words and checks them against the page. They're a summary, so the original post always has the full detail.
Can I change a recipe before or after saving it?
Before saving, press Edit in the panel to fix the title, servings, ingredients or steps. After saving, add your own notes to any recipe in the app.
Signing in
My sign-in code didn't arrive.
Give it a minute, then check your spam or promotions folder for an email from Kitchen Clipper. Use the code from the newest email. Codes expire after a while, so if one is rejected, ask for a new one.
I clicked the link in the email instead of typing the code.
The link signs you in to the website, not to the clipper. For the clipper, type the six-digit code into the side panel. It's fine to switch tabs to read your email, because the panel waits for you.
It says my email isn't on the beta list.
During the beta, only invited email addresses can sign in. Make sure you're using the same address your invite was sent to. If you haven't been invited yet, request an invite.
Using the app
Does it work on my phone?
The recipe box, meal plan and shopping list work in any phone browser at app.kitchenclipper.com. The clipper itself needs Chrome on a desktop or laptop.
What is stove mode?
Open a recipe in the app and turn on stove mode for bigger text and ingredients you can tick off. Your screen stays awake while it's on.
How do I change the look?
Pick Home Style, Country, Modern or Pop from the Settings menu at the top of the app, or at the bottom of the clipper's side panel. Your choice is saved to your account, so everything matches on every device.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings and choose "Delete my account." This removes your account and your saved recipes, plan and list. It can't be undone.
For recipe creators
Kitchen Clipper always shows your name and photo and links every recipe back to your page, tagged so the visits show in your analytics. We never republish your story, photos or notes word for word. If you'd like anything changed about how your recipes appear, email hello@kitchenclipper.com.
Still need help?
Email support@kitchenclipper.com. Tell us what you were doing and, if it's about a recipe, include the link to the page. A screenshot helps too.
