Privacy policy
Last updated October 17, 2026
The short version
- We keep what you save (your recipes, meal plan, shopping list and settings) so you can use them on any device. That's it.
- The clipper reads a web page only when you open it on that page or ask it to. It never tracks your browsing history.
- We don't sell your information, share it with advertisers, or show ads.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings at any time.
Who we are
Kitchen Clipper is a recipe saving and meal planning service made up of the Kitchen Clipper Chrome extension (the "clipper"), the web app at app.kitchenclipper.com (the "app") and this website. It is run by Sean Bjers in Bristol, Connecticut, USA. Questions about privacy go to privacy@kitchenclipper.com.
What we collect, and why
| What | Why we keep it |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To sign you in with a one-time code and to contact you about your account. We don't use passwords. |
| Recipes you save: title, ingredients, steps, times, servings, the link to the original page, a link to its photo, and the creator's name, site, icon and public social handle | So your recipe box works, and so every recipe keeps credit and a link back to the person who made it. |
| Creator tips: short notes summarizing the storage, make-ahead and swap advice on a recipe page | Shown with the recipe so you don't have to scroll back through the post. |
| Things you add: your own notes, favorites, collections, meal plan, shopping list items and household name | These are the app's features. Nobody else sees them unless you share a household with them. |
| Settings: the look you picked (Home Style, Country, Modern or Pop) | So the app and the clipper match on every device. |
| Waitlist sign-ups: your email, which version of this website you signed up on, and the site that sent you, if any | To send your beta invite and learn which pages and channels work. |
We don't collect your name unless you type it in, and we never collect payment details, your contacts, your location or your browsing history.
How the clipper reads pages
The clipper needs to read a recipe page to find the recipe on it. Here is exactly when and how that happens:
- It reads only the page you are on, and only while the Kitchen Clipper side panel is open or when you choose "Clip highlighted recipe." Chrome asks for your permission before it can read a site for the first time.
- Finding the recipe happens inside your browser. The recipe is sent to us only when you press Save.
- One exception, so we can write the creator tips: when you open the panel on a recipe while signed in, the text of the page's tips and notes sections is sent to our notes service. That service asks Anthropic's Claude AI to summarize the tips in plain words and then checks the summary against the page. We don't store the page text, only the finished tips once you save the recipe. Anthropic processes the text under its commercial API terms, which do not allow it to be used to train its models.
- The clipper stores your sign-in, your chosen look and where you save recipes on your own computer, in Chrome's extension storage. The recipe currently on screen is held only until you close Chrome.
Who helps us run Kitchen Clipper
We use a few companies to provide the service. They handle your information only on our behalf and only to do the job listed:
- Supabase stores your account and saved data, sends sign-in codes and runs our notes service. Data is stored in the United States.
- Vercel hosts this website and the app.
- Anthropic summarizes creator tips, as described above.
- An email delivery provider sends sign-in codes and beta invites from our address.
- Namecheap forwards mail sent to our @kitchenclipper.com addresses.
We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. We would disclose information only if the law required it, and we'd tell you unless we were legally prevented from doing so.
Cookies and tracking
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and there are no third-party analytics scripts on this website or in the app. The app keeps you signed in using your browser's local storage, and this website remembers which look you're viewing for the length of your visit. That's all.
Chrome Web Store user data
The Kitchen Clipper extension's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use page data only to provide the clipper's recipe-saving features, we don't transfer it except as described in this policy, and no person reads it unless you ask us for help with a specific recipe or the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Your account and saved data stay until you delete them. Recipes, plans and list items you delete are removed right away. If you delete your account, everything in it is deleted, except that a shared household's recipes stay with the other members of that household. Waitlist emails are kept until you're invited or ask us to remove you.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account any time from Settings in the app.
- Get a copy of your data, correct it or leave the waitlist by emailing privacy@kitchenclipper.com. We'll answer within 30 days, usually much sooner.
- Remove the clipper from Chrome at any time. Removing it deletes everything it stored on your computer.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or California's privacy laws. We'll honor those requests whether or not your state or country requires it.
Children
Kitchen Clipper is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Security
Information travels over encrypted connections. Each account's data is walled off in our database so only you, and anyone you share a household with, can see it. No system is perfect, and if something ever goes wrong that affects your information, we'll tell you promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll email you before it takes effect.
